Vitamin B12 Deficiency and Visual Loss

Three autistic children have been identified as having partially reversible optic neuropathy as a consequence of vitamin B12 deficiency.  All the children were on a restrictive, vegan-type diet.  Treatment with intramuscular vitamin B12 injections resulted in an improvemnt in visual function.

Restrictive diets can cause nutritional harm and should be assessed by a specialist Dietitian.  Contact Emma at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it or call 01623 882853 for more information.
