| About Brain & Body Nutrition |
|
Nutrition can have a significant effect on mood, learning potential and
behaviour and can improve symptoms in certain individuals with ADHD (
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder ), ASD ( autistic spectrum
disorder ), dyslexia and dyspraxia. Many individuals with these
conditions also suffer from skin disorders, gut problems and food
intolerance all of which require specialist dietary advice. Here at Brain & Body Nutrition we offer professional advice from a NHS-trained Dietitian who specialises in the fast moving area of diet and behaviour. Why consult a Dietitian ? Dietitians have trained to degree or post-graduate standards and are the only nutrition professional allowed to work in the NHS. It is a protected title and can only be used by members of the British Dietetic Association ( www.bda.uk.com) and Health Professions Council ( www.hpc-uk.org). Dietitians work to a strict Code of Conduct and are not allowed to endorse or recommend particular products or supplements, making their advice balanced and impartial. My name is Emma Mills and I am the Brain & Body Nutrition Dietitian. I became interested in how diet affects behaviour when a family friend with autistic traits showed huge improvement by changing his diet ( he has since graduated from university ! ). Since then I have researched this topic thoroughly, attended relevant courses and have committed to continuous professional development in this specialist area. I am currently a member of the Dietitians in Autism Group and the Food & Behaviour Research charity. Conferences attended to date :
